The GDPR is a new data protection law that will replace the Data Protection Act (1998) on 25th May 2018. Organisations must be able to demonstrate to individuals and the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) that they are compliant.
The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.
Service Development – Gender Violence and Abuse (GVA). Gender violence affects men, women & children; although it disproportionately affects women and girls. It includes domestic abuse/violence, harassment, ‘honour crimes’ and forced marriage, trafficking and prostitution, rape and sexual violence, stalking and female genital mutilation (FGM)
The biggest change ever made to the benefits system. By 2022, more than 7 million households will be receiving it, over half of whom will be in work. The aim—to simplify the benefit system—is right. But it is currently failing too many people and forcing many into debt.
Universal Credit is the biggest change to the benefits system since it was created. Benefits and tax credits are the largest single area of advice we provide, and the roll-out of Universal Credit will have a huge impact for both our service and our clients. Since UC was launched, Citizens Advice has already helped over 48,000 people with Universal Credit issues.
