JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
Citizens Advice Wakefield District (CAWD) are seeking someone with experience of providing generalist advice and assessments to join our expanding team of Outreach Advisers.
Ideally the successful applicant will have experience of providing Generalist Advice and Assessments but we are also able to consider a trainee position for someone new to advice work, for example someone who has already began training to be a volunteer Adviser or Assessor at a Citizens Advice or at a similar advice organisation and are interested in the role in a paid capacity. A trainee would be required to complete an intensive training programme and to work towards achieving competence in the role of Citizens Advice Assessor and Generalist Adviser in an outreach setting.
Your role will be to provide a drop in and appointment service at our existing outreaches across the District as well new ones we are in the process of setting up. You will quickly assess the best way to assist a client then provide the appropriate level of help (self-help Information, full generalist advice, referrals to other CAWD projects or by signposting to more appropriate organisations).
The post holder will be required to provide advice and information face to face with appropriate protective measures and also from home via telephone, email and video. (equipment and support will be provided to enable this)
You will also assist the Training and Outreach Manager in promoting and publicizing the services locally and work with local partner organisations to reach potential advice service users and potential volunteers and provide them with information on how to use and take part in the services.
PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately we are unable to consider any applications from applicants with no Generalist Advice or Assessor experience at all.
