We are delighted to announce we have a new outreach service launching at the 5 Towns Veterans Support Hub in Featherstone.
The service is funded by way of a grant from The Veterans’ Foundation, whose purpose is to raise funds and give grants to charitable organisations that support serving and former members of the armed forces, and their dependents, who are in need. Veterans, serving members of the armed forces and their families can access our advice service on a drop-in basis each Monday morning between 10am and 12pm, beginning Monday 7th April 2025.
Ahead of the launch of our service, 5 Towns Veterans Support Hub were presented with the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service by the Lord-Lieutenant Ed Anderson CBE. It is the highest award given to local volunteer groups, the equivalent of the MBE, recognising the outstanding work they perform within their communities. Representatives from Citizens Advice Wakefield District were honoured to attend the presentation event, alongside the Support Hub’s volunteers, committee members and local dignitaries including Mayor of Wakefield, Darren Byford.
